The Haven - review

If you enjoy Amish fiction you'll love The Haven. If you don't enjoy Amish fiction, you might still enjoy it. It seems Amish fiction is really popular right now, but I have found that some authors are better than others, and found Suzanne Woods Fisher is currently my favorite author in this genre. Her characters are believable and I soon find myself forgetting about the Amish elements and just enjoying a good story.

The Haven is the second book in her Stoney Ridge Seasons series. The main characters are a Sadie Lapp and Gideon Smucker-- Amish young people who have been lifelong "sweethearts"-- and Will Stoltz, a non-Amish college student. The book starts with Sadie coming home after spending the winter in Ohio. She brings a baby with her... and you can imagine how that looks to her conservative Amish community. It was an intriguing plot and a fun read. I enjoyed the story.

Hi Karla! The first few lines of your review cracked me up! I completely understand that Amish fiction isn't for everyone--but so glad you gave my books a try. I feel as if people get distracted by the bonnets and buggies and beards...but there's so much more to glean from these people. Really glad you were part of the tour! Warmly, Suzanne
